How People Choose Hotels: Results of a Decisive Survey
How People Choose Their Hotels Hotel Preferences are Largely Determined by Age
No one would argue that the needs and wants of someone in their 50s or 60s are quite different than those of a person in their 20s or 30s. The baby boomer generation still listens to Elvis, Sinatra, and the Beatles. The millennial generation’s music preferences are more likely to lean toward Beyonce, Eminem and Pharell Williams. Someone in their 60s is more likely to be technologically challenged (how do you send a text?) while a 30 year-old could not live without a smartphone and uses social media sites regularly.
Travelers choose hotel rooms based upon location, price, level of service, and several other factors. Hotels cater to all market segments from budget to ultra-luxury. The travel and hospitality site Hotel Management recently published a 2014 report entitled Portrait of American Travelers. Hotels are boosting loyalty with dining experiences (featuring four examples)
Dining is part and parcel of the travel experience, with many people now drawn towards destinations based on their food culture and cuisine.
Thanks to the rise of food tourism, an increasing number of hotels are launching dining experiences of their own. Whether it’s an in-house event or a partnership with third-party food brands – the aim is to increase loyalty and create a seamless experience for customers.
So, what are hotels doing, and will it work? Here are a few examples.
InterContinental Hotels partners with OpenTable and GrubHub
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) – the owner of Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and many other big hotel chains – recently announced a partnership with OpenTable and Grubhub to launch a new food and drink loyalty programme.
The idea of the scheme is that IHG loyalty members can earn points whenever they make a restaurant reservation via OpenTable or order a takeout from GrubHub to be delivered to their hotel. Read more here.
Regardless of the purpose of travelling, people are really looking forward to a good dining experience. That is why hotels are doing everything just to make sure that their customers experience the best. In addition to that it, the next thing that we are going to talk about is about restaurants. Restaurants are really one of the places that travellers want to explore and below, Mary Norton will share to us seven things to consider when choosing a restaurant.
